However if you have ever visited the bigger cities in Thailand you have surely come across what are know as lady boys, question is...were you able to tell that these long legged pretty "girls" are actually men passing themselves off as girls. Im not a person who is a homophobic but I draw the line on aggressive lady boy prostitution that seemed to be getting a free reign nowadays when I recently visited Thailand. Im afraid many men visiting Thailand have been harassed and groped or even fooled by these surgically altered men thinking they were having fun with someone of the opposite sex. These men live the lifestyle everyday for years and Im guessing many really start to believe they ARE girls. Be wary of any girls over 5ft. 4". If something seems a bit odd about the "girl" your with it might be because your with a man. A few drinks can dull your senses and pretty boy Asian men have faces that can seem very feminine in nature. If you have been to Thailand then you know what Im talking about, If not let this be a warning to you. Thailand is at the center of the sex change surgery business these days and the hospitals are churning out ladyboy prostitutes non-stop. Prosititution is suppose to be illegal in Thailand but in truth its freestyle sexuality and anything goes here and the police seem to be turning a blind eye to this harassing, aggressive, groping, delusional population acting very un-thai like in public. Be carefull.. after waving off an ugly lady boy who just couldn't take a hint and as it turned out had no sense of humor, I was hit so hard with handle end of an umbrella on top of my head it broke apart. The umbrella that is. After he gloated... I have a pussy, I retorted, everyone has a pussy in Thailand these days. The Bangkok lady boy was fined 300 baht around $10.00 U.S. because as the policeman informed me...my head wasnt split open. In Thai Buddhist culture they teach you the most sacred part of the body is the head and your not suppose to even touch an adult there. So much for that. At the same time in the same police station a young man from another country who was not drunk was taken into custody because he refused to pay a 4,000 baht extortion fee to bar owner for a 40 baht bar glass he accidentally broke. So my head was deemed to be worth quite a bit less then a broken bar glass to thai police. If given the chance these lady boys may take the opportunity to rob you as any prostitute working the streets in Thailand or elsewhere in the world might. These ladyboys are harassing tourists and they are allowed to work the streets passing themselves off in the most outrageous manner. I dont know what it is (some sort of cultural oddity) but many Thai's are downright fascinated by lady boys. Thai's love to see lady boy acts onstage. It always leaves them in stitches. Thai's also can seem overly fond of them as I found out one day from a 40 year old male thai tuk tuk driver while on my way to the Chiang Mai airport. He seemed a straight guy to me then a lady boy ran out into the street waving his arms and causing a scene. So I laugh, look at that. My driver says to me; Oh l love them lady boys. If I buy them a beer or two they will do me all night!!! So there you have it. Thai's love their lady boy transvestites. Thailand may have the largest per capita transvestite population in the world. Im going to have to look that one up to confirm that fact but surely its near the top world wide. Im also guessing the crime stats are seriously under-reported or misreported in thailand. Violent assaults can become petty crimes very easily here..
